I was following MS's HoloLens program for a time. They never got past the developer version. The biggest drawback was the narrow field of view, some called it a "mail slot" view, similar to how most phone vids are. The whole thing just seemed to fade away.

Was HoloLens the "augmented reality" thing? One time at some kind of conference I was attending, Microsoft was showing off some AR glasses. They were a little thick, but not heavy or uncomfortable. I got to try them out and they were pretty impressive, making things come out of walls and move around in front of me, etc. I would really like a set of glasses like that, that can create a desktop environment in front of me with virtual displays, keyboard, and mouse or whatever input device. Dunno why MS abandoned that thing.
